Management of the Client with Burns
by Nursing CE Catalog
Burn incidences, injuries, and mortality have continued to decrease steadily. However, burn injuries continue to be traumatic and life-altering experiences for clients and their families.

Responses to an injury depend on age, culture, socioeconomic status, coping mechanisms, body image, and family support. Treatment goals include providing clients with appropriate physiological care and emotional support and helping them return to as normal a life as possible. Emotional and physical challenges can continue for months or years. Social, community, and family support are essential if the individual is to have quality of life after such an experience.

The purpose/goal of this course is to examine the body’s response to burns, describe the pharmacological and treatment options for burn clients, and examine the rehabilitative period of burn care.
