Newborn Apnea and Airway Anomalies

Contact Hours: 1.6 Course Description: This module reviews apnea and apnea of prematurity as well as the key differentiators in central versus obstructive apnea. Along with a brief discussion of common airway anomalies, key preventative measures are also addressed when caring for the apneic infant. Course Objectives:Explain what is meant by apnea and apnea of prematurity
Differentiate central and obstructive apnea
Identify key preventative measures in caring for the infant with apnea
Discuss a few common airway anomalies and their presentation This continuing nursing education activity was approved by the PA State Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.
