Newborn Respiratory Distress and HMD

Contact Hours: 1.5 Course Description: This module discusses multiple causes of and differentiators in respiratory distress in infants. It discusses the typical characteristics of TTN (transient tachypnea of the newborn) as well as HMD (hyaline membrane disease). Course Objectives:Differentiate the signs and symptoms of respiratory distress and HMD (hyaline membrane disease)
Describe the physiology, etiology, and presentation of HMD or RDS (respiratory distress syndrome)
Explain the typical signs, symptoms, and care of an infant with TTN (transient tachypnea of the newborn)
Discuss typical chest x-ray findings as they relate to HMD This continuing nursing education activity was approved by the PA State Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.
