Contact Hours: 2.8 Course Description: This module provides a basic overview of ground transport nursing, discussing the roles and responsibilities of a ground transport nurse, preparation and use of supplies, contraindications to transport, transfer choreography, and much more. Course Objectives:Discuss the job description of a ground transport nurse
Identify the key components of proper preparation for the patient prior to transport
Identify the differences between flight and ground transport
Review the medications typically supplied in medication kits for transport
Briefly discuss the equipment involved in transport nursing
Discuss the contraindications for ground transport
Discuss the importance of performing a physical assessment prior to leaving the facility or scene and during the transport
Discuss documentation tips and techniques to consider for transport
Describe the choreography of a typical patient transfer and the importance of communicating with the medical transport coordination center (MTCC )
Discuss the importance of communicating with the patient's family members This continuing nursing education activity was approved by the PA State Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.
