Contact Hours: 1.0 Course Description: This module provides an overview of cardiac valves and heart sounds, including anatomical landmarks and common auscultation methods. Course Objectives:Describe the basic anatomy of the adult cardiac valve system
Differentiate between the atrioventricular (AV) and semilunar (SL) valves and their functions
Explain the "Ape to Man" approach to heart sound sites
Describe and differentiate between the various types of heart sounds (s1, s2, s3, s4, and murmurs) This continuing nursing education activity was approved by the PA State Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation. DISCLOSURES Criteria for successful completion includes a passing score of 70% on the post-test offered at the end of this course.
