Understanding Shock

Contact Hours: 1.7 Course Description: This module provides an overview of shock, including the types and stages of shock, as well as how preload, afterload, and cardiac output are affected within each clinical stage of shock. It also seeks to differentiate SIRS (System Inflammatory Response Syndrome) and MODS (Multi-Organ Dysfunction Syndrome). Course Objectives:Discuss how preload, afterload, and cardiac output are affected in the clinical stages of shock
Differentiate the various types of shock
Define the 3 stages of shock and the subsequent effects on the body
Differentiate SIRS and MODS This continuing nursing education activity was approved by the PA State Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.
