Encouraging good health and fitness is something every business should do and the reason is because nobody wants to go through the hiring process because someone had to quit due to poor health or because they can’t do the job because of the lack of fitness. When you encourage your employees to stay healthy and fit you’ll have workers with energy and the ability to do the job you need them to do each day or week.
There are a number of things you can do to encourage your employees to stay healthy and fit. Some of them may require money on your part while others may only require your encouragement and kind words. Nonetheless you should do them all no matter what because a healthy and fit employee is a good employee and one you want on your payroll. Here are some suggestions for things you can do to help your employees.
1. Blood draws
Blood draws are a good way to determine if you have any serious health concerns and if you need to be checked out further by a doctor or health professional. Your local clinic or hospital will have information to help you get one of these set up in your office or will help you to arrange a time for your employees to do this in their facility. You can pay for these blood draws or you can have your employees pay for them. Either will work, but if you have employees with a tight budget, you may find they can’t afford to do it and won’t get it done.
2. Vending machines
Most office buildings have vending machines in them or a box where food items can be purchased. If you have one of these, you might want to include items that are healthy. While you can’t do fruits or vegetables there are alternatives to chips and candy bars. When you provide healthy foods for your employees to eat, they’ll feel better, have more energy, and won’t struggle to stay awake during the day.
Encouraging workouts is another way to keep your employees healthy and fit or they’ll help them get that way. If you find they don’t want to workout in the office, you might consider talking to your local gym or workout studio to see what it would take to get your employees a discount on a membership. This discount might be just what they need to join and stick with it.
Healthy and fit employees are better employees than those that are overweight and out of shape. When you encourage them and help them to do what it takes to be healthy and fit youíll find they’ll work better and harder and your business will show it.
